Old Acquaintances

Shadowy attributions contentiously accompanying authors’ literary process during creation of new manuscripts for book’s publications which lead to becoming rich and famous or stalled in the career.

How is the begin of the authorship and becoming rich and famous by not being presumptuous, nor losing friends and or attracting rivalry?

“Old Acquaintances”, a play by John Van Druten 1940, investigated it, and was made for silver screen in 1943 by Vincent Sherman.

The remake was in 1981with the title: “Rich and Famous”, by George Cukor, whom we remember from one of the blogs; “Love Among the Ruins”.

All about the friendship of Kit Marlowe and Millie Drake which tends towards contentiousness as Millie asks Kit to present her book to her publisher. Kit is not sure what the outcome of it will be, a rivalry or the remaining of their friendship.

After eight years Millie has become a successful novelist for romantic novels whilst she becomes conceited. They find their friendship is probably at risk of dissolving whilst one rises from anonymity to knowingly success and the other one’s career is not forwarding.

They are challenging parts of author’s professional lives with certain influences on their literary works.
