Harold Pinter
10.Oct. 1930-24. Dec. 2008
He was born on 10.Oct. 1930, in London-England and was influenced by Samuel Beckett’s authorship’s style.
Playwright, screenwriter, actor, theatre director, and poet.
He wrote and produced his first play, “The Room”, in 1957.
One of his earliest examples of” Comedy of menace”, which Pinter's second play has similarities to it.
“The Birthday Party” (remembering the previous blogs?), contradictory, bringing the readership back to the beginning yet with newly adapted understanding of the text already read before and leaving some questions without answers, the changeling manner like those of Beckett’s.
“The Room”: It surrounds “Rose”, who seems to be restless and by all means, unsettled, talking about everything and nothing in particular. Perhaps to keep herself safe from the unknown which might be laying ahead.
Pinter has been quoted saying that he couldn’t write a play in under six months. He wrote in two days, he says four days, no it wasn’t, it was two days.
