The American Dream.

“American Dream": James Truslow Adams (18 October 1878 – 18 May 1949) was an American historian and author who prompted the popularisation of the phrase “American Dream” in his 1931 book; “The Epic of America”, he idealised: “The life should be different for all and argued further; the life should be better, wealthier, depending upon one’s abilities and achievements regardless of one's ethnical aspects and/or origin.
On the cultural side of it, this has been more of a discussive concentration in “Literature”.
Sinclair Lewis’s 1922 novel:” Babbitt”, F. Scott Fitzgerald, “The great Gatsby”; in his 1925 classic, criticising the materialism in search for the American Dream. The idea obeying by the rules and working hard, the material prosperity is within reach, does not apply always and not in general. The American Dream has been also themed in American films. For example, “Easy Rider (1969)”, directed by Dennis Hopper, shows a search for "The True America" from the point of view of hippie movement, drug usage, and communal lifestyles.
Are these sorts of such a “Dream”, only of one’s belonging or for others than one?
