“The Snows of Kilimanjaro”

Ernest Hemingway wrote this short story, which was published in August 1936, in esquire magazine.
“Kilimanjaro is a snow- covered mountain 19,170 feet high, and it is said to be the highest mountain in Africa.
Its western summit is called the “Masai”, the “House of God”.
Close to western summit there is the dried and frozen carcass of a leopard. No one has explained what the leopard was seeking at that attitude.”
1952’s adaptation of this short story, was directed by Henry King, and written by Casey Robinson with “Gregory Peck” as Harry, “Susan Hayward” as Helen, and “Ava Gardner” as Cynthia Green, a character which was written extra for the film adaptation.
Ernest Hemingway’s own striving to reach this attitude?
And was this another one of his “American Dreams", to reshape his life?
